School of Digital, Technologies and Arts

Andy is the course leader for the MoD Foundation Degree programme and spent 36 years serving in the Royal Air Force. His main research area is the transition of UK Armed Forces students into Higher Education.

I spent the majority of my working life in the Royal Air Force and left in 2013. I then spent a number of years working in roles associated with the Civil Aviation Authority and the Military equivalent, setting up engineering organisations within the military environment. I joined the University in April 2019 and am the course leader for the MoD Fd programme.

I studied for a master’s degree in education with the Open University and am currently studying for my doctorate with Staffordshire University. My main research area is the transition of military students into Higher Education and their lived experience during their studies.
