I have had the privilege of being both a student at Staffordshire University as well as a member of the faculty. In 2015, I came to Staffordshire University to read an undergraduate LLB Law degree. In 2018, I graduated with a first-class Law degree with honours. Following on from my Law degree, I decided to pursue a career in education. To that end, in 2019, I completed a Post Graduate Certificate of Education (PGCE) in the Post Compulsory Education and Training (PCET) sector and became a qualified FE teacher.
Shortly after my graduation from the PGCE, I gained employment at Staffordshire University as a part-time, hourly-paid lecturer in law. I began teaching on the undergraduate law programme, specialising in criminal law and criminal justice, in September 2019. In 2020, I graduated with a Masters in Science (MSc) in Criminology and Criminal Justice. My dissertation “The Unintended Consequences of the #MeToo Movement: Empowering Women or Demonising Men?” was awarded a mark of 90%.
On 1 May 2022, I started a new role as an Associate Tutor (Step Up to Policing). As of September 2022, I am now the module leader for a Level 3 Crime in Context module, a Level 5 Criminal Law module, and a Level 6 Criminal Justice and Punishment module. I recently won an award for delivering incredible student experiences as part of the ‘Proud To Be Staffs’ Student Union awards. I also facilitate teaching and learning on a Level 3 Step Up to Policing short course.
In October 2022, the Step Up to Policing course won the award for ‘Outstanding Course of the Year’ at the Celebrating Staffs Success awards ceremony.
In January 2023, I will embark on a PhD in Criminology and Policing in which I will research the vigilante phenomenon by observing the activities of self-styled ‘paedophile hunters’ through a zemiological lens.
