Evi started her academic career in 2006. During all her years of employment in various academic institutions in the UK (Coventry University and Staffordshire University) and in Greece (National Technical University of Athens and British-Hellenic College), she has always been looking for ways to enhance her teaching practices and to provide an excellent learning experience to her students. The implementation of novel teaching techniques such as Flipped Classroom and Student Response Systems are some of the innovative practices she has successfully integrated into her teaching.
Professional memberships and activities
- Higher Education Academy (HEA)/Fellow
- Greek Society of Experimental Mechanics/Founding member
- Institution of Civil Engineering (ICE)/ Graduate member
Academic qualifications
Her UG and PG studies were focused on Applied Mechanics. She was awarded her MEng (2004), her MSc (2006) and her PhD (2010) by the School of Applied Mathematics and Physical Science of National Technical University of Athens. Her PhD Thesis was focused on the optimization of the techniques used for the restoration of the Parthenon Temple in the Acropolis of Athens.
Expertise
Solid Mechanics/Stress Analysis
Finite Element Analysis
Research interests
Evi’s research interests are in the areas of Solid Mechanics and Computational Mechanics focusing on the mechanical behaviour of non-linear anisotropic materials (brittle materials such as porous stones, marble, ceramics). One of the main features of her research is the combined use of analytical, numerical and experimental techniques for the analysis of the internal stress/strain fields of solid bodies and structures.
