Dr Evangelia Ganniari Papageorgiou

School of Digital, Technologies and Arts

I am the Course Director for Mechanical and General Engineering. I am also highly involved in the development, design, delivery, and leadership of modules at all levels in the area of Mechanical Engineering, and in different formats (e.g. blended, distance learning), ensuring that the learning materials and methods of delivery meet defined learning objectives.

My educational background is in the areas of Applied Mathematical and Physical Sciences and Engineering. During my postgraduate studies in Applied Mechanics I had the opportunity to work on applications in the field of conservation and restoration of monuments. More specifically, my PhD Thesis aimed at optimizing a technique used currently for the restoration of the Parthenon Temple on the Acropolis of Athens. Since the completion of my PhD studies I have participated in research projects in the broader area of Solid Mechanics covering a wide range of engineering applications in mechanical, automotive and civil engineering, where experiment and numerical simulation are combined for investigating the accuracy of known analytical solutions for the stress, strain and displacement fields.

Since 2006, I have worked as a Lecturer in various institutions in the UK and abroad (Staffordshire University, Coventry University, National Technical University of Athens and British-Hellenic College of Athens). I have also been the Course leader of a portfolio of Mechanical Engineering Awards (BEng, MEng, Part-Time, with a foundation year, with a placement year) at Staffordshire University.
