My most recent position was Sport and Physical Activity Manager for Bridgnorth District Council which encompassed management of Dual use leisure facilities, Sports Development Department and the Physical Activity Development team. I have worked at a strategic delivery level with two CSP’s, Shropshire Telford and Wrekin and the Black Country County Sports Partnership which involved sub regional strategy development and performance management alongside key partners such as the PCT and Education. I have had 13 years experience within the sports and leisure industry ranging from facility management to local authority strategic planning for Sport and Active Recreation in both urban and rural communities.

Before commencing my role as lecturer in Sports Policy and Sports Development I undertook my MSc in Sports Management at Loughborough University, my dissertation focused on the dimensions of County Sports Partnership Effectiveness a case study of Leicestershire and Rutland Sport and its stakeholders.

Expertise

My area of expertise lies within Sports Policy with particular emphasis on Sports Development. Through my many years working within local government in a range of settings and roles has enabled me to develop a wealth of working knowledge of this element of the sector.

Research interests

Emerging research interests are directed towards Sport in International Development, focusing towards the use of sport as a means to achieve development objectives in the developing world and those nations struck by large scale disaster.
