I have been a qualified midwife since 2004. I have worked in all areas of Maternity care including community where I provided care to women within a caseload and facilitated and supported women to birth at home. I also hold a Nursing qualification which I obtained in my home country, Spain.
Prior to becoming a lecturer for Staffordshire University, I have also worked within different NHS trust, and I have also worked as a Team Leader in the community team in the Erdington Area linked to UHB hospital NHS. I remain active as a clinical Midwife on a Bank contract basis and I work clinical shifts on delivery Suite, Community, and the Postnatal Ward at UHB NHS trust.
Although I love working as a clinical Midwife, my passion has always lined towards teaching and supporting students in both settings academic and Practice.

Research interests
I am very passionate about Midwifery particularly about enabling women to have a choice within their right to birth in whatever environment they feel safe.
Teaching
I am the module lead for the Optimizing Neonatal health module and also lead the promoting neonatal health module. These are modules at level 5 and level 6. Within these modules I do support students to develop their critical thinking skills and enable them to apply theory into practice within the care of the Neonate with complex needs.
