I began my teaching career in 2003 having spent most of my working life in the private sector holding a variety financial and management accounting positions up to Finance Director level in medium-sized companies, primarily in the manufacturing sector. I have considerable practical knowledge of both financial and management accounting systems, and statutory reporting requirements.
My main areas of interest are management accounting, financial management, and corporate finance.

I have significant experience of financial strategy in business, together with first-hand knowledge of take-over and merger activity.

Enterprise and commercial interests

In additional to his teaching activities at the university, I offer short training courses in financial management related subjects on a commercial basis.
I also run a small accountancy practice providing financial accounting, compliance and tax services to sole traders, partnerships, limited companies and individuals.
