Peter Blackburn

School of Justice, Security and Sustainability

I started my career aged 17 as a police cadet in Warwickshire where I quickly fell in love with policing and enjoyed various operational roles in uniform and CID.

I went on to study for an MA in Management Studies at the Business School, Worcester University before leading the implementation phase of the first Justice Centre in the Country to have all the Criminal Justice (CJ) agencies working in one open-plan work environment.

Following HRH Princess Anne's opening of the facility, we won the Cabinet Office ‘Team Delivery Award’ - It was an honour to be part of this team. I was then posted to the Justice Centre where I led the delivery of operational policing for that area.

Achieving a promotion and joining West Midlands Police, I undertook various operational roles in Birmingham and completed my career by creating a new Operational Development Unit within the police counter-terrorism network.

My policing background includes various leadership roles, firearms command, and hostage and crisis negotiation coordination.
