Rebecca Holland

Technical Specialist Nursing & Midwifery

Technical Services

I have a wealth of experience in Health & Social Care over the last 25 years. I have a GNVQ in Health & Social care and a diploma in childcare where I worked as a nursery nurse in a local school.

I decided to incorporate my love for travel and entertaining children within the travel industry and decided to become a Thomson Holiday company Children's Representative. It was from this experience I had working as a holiday representative, and the satisfaction I had gained from serving the public I knew that a nursing career was for me.

I started my nursing career as a Health care assistant on the orthopaedic ward at the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital where I worked for two years, this then inspired me to commence my nurse training. I studied at Staffordshire University and graduated as an Adult Registered Nurse in 2006.

Since qualifying I have worked as a Staff Nurse at the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital in the Emergency Department for 14 years and then progressed to nursing Sister in 2016. I decided I wanted to expand on my critical nursing skills and have worked for the last year 2020/21 in the Intensive Care Unit at the Royal Wolverhampton Trust during the Covid-19 pandemic, which has been a very steep learning curve.

My role within the Nursing & Midwifery Technical services is to provide clinical and specialist instruction and facilitate support to staff and students whilst in the clinical skills practice sessions.

Throughout my career I have lots of practice experience learning through simulation-based training and education on Advanced Life support/Trauma courses. which will enable me to utilise my clinical expertise to support the Academics and students as required.

I have been a qualified mentor for 12 years and have always had a passion for teaching and sharing my knowledge. I am looking forward to my role in Technical services, and I am excited to be part of a great team supporting students on their learning journey.
