Susan Jackson

Senior Lecturer

I am experienced Midwife, Nurse, Senior Lecturer, External Examiner and Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy who is Staffordshire University’s Midwifery course lead and Nursing and Midwifery Council’s (NMC) Lead Midwife for Education, tasked with leading the development of the Future Midwifery curriculum in preparation for 2021. This work is enhanced by active involvement in research projects and collaborative working with professional regulatory and partner organisations. In addition, I significantly contribute to maintenance and development to the undergraduate and postgraduate portfolio within the School of Health and Social Care.

Specific interests lie in provision of quality assured programs of professional education, the complexities surrounding professional issues, law and ethics relating to midwifery practice, maternal and neonatal safety and optimising the experiences of women, their families and midwives.

  • Health Expert: DESTINTY PROJECT - DESTINY is a 3 year project funded by the European Union under the Erasmus+ Cooperation. Staffordshire University is hosting the DESTINY project which operates across Europe and involves Higher Education Institute’s working in cooperation with private sector organisations. Each Higher Education Institute (HEI) will work closely with a youth organisation to ensure access to work seekers (WS) and local employers, and to ensure recruitment and participation in MOOC study clubs (MSC). http://destiny-eu.net/
