About me

In October 2014 I was appointed as a lecturer in Early Childhood Studies and shortly after became Course Leader for the Foundation Degree in Early Childhood Studies. In 2015 I became a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy in recognition of job role and responsibilities. I currently teach across all levels and awards of the Early Childhood Studies programmes. As part of my MA I researched the use of mobile technology on HE student learning. I continue to evaluate the use of various apps and the impact these have on developing student knowledge and understanding of module content within lectures
Prior to working in higher education I began my career in teaching in a local primary school where I have experience of working across the entire primary age range in both mixed and single age groups and teaching all subjects. I also had specific subject responsibility for Music, Dance, Art and Technology. I was also appointed as Early Years Co-ordinator and had responsibility for planning, assessment and delivery of the early years curriculum.
I then moved to a local further education college and was appointed Course Leader for the Foundation Degree in Education (FdA Ed) course and Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools(STLS) courses at a further education college. Part of this role was to observe students in practice and maintain good links with settings.
On a personal note I enjoy teaching and listening to music. I have grade 8 (Associated Board Royal School of Music) in clarinet, piano, flute and theory and have supported students from grade 1 to A level performance
