If you're struggling financially and worried this might impact on your ability to continue with your studies we have a fund that might be able to help you.

The Summer Support Fund is open to all current Staffordshire University students, including international, distance learning and postgraduate students, as well as those students studying at one of our partner colleges who may need additional financial support over the summer.

The fund will reopen at 11am on Monday, 21st June with an application deadline of 11am on Monday, 12th July.

If you are experiencing an immediate financial crisis the Students' Union Summer Crisis Loan can provide you with up to £100. This service is open to all our students. If you need urgent financial assistance please contact our Students' Union Advice Team on or call 01782 294629 where a member of the team will assist you.

What can I apply for? 

You will be able to access additional funding for a wide variety of assistance, including (but not limited to):

    • Household bills (gas, water, electric);
    • Food;
    • Rent/rent arrears;
    • Accommodation fee deposit;
    • Broadband/WIFI data allowance;
    • Course related costs

The Summer Support Fund is open to all current Staffordshire University students.

How do I apply?

You can apply by using the button below. Applying is quick and easy and should take no more than fifteen minutes. If you're not already registered with Blackbullion you'll be asked to register with them using your student email account before completing your application. Registration is free and will give you access to all Blackbullion's online resources and learning modules designed to help you develop essential money skills, as well as exclusive competitions. You will also be asked to provide your bank details (along with a copy of your latest statement) so we can make payment to you if your application is approved. Please make sure to check your bank details thoroughly before submitting your application. 

Please note: Your application is not complete and can't be assessed until you have uploaded a copy of your latest bank statement.

What do I need to include in my personal statement?

You will need to let us know why you require support. Please include details of any specific items you require support with.

When will I find out if my application has been successful?

Applicants will be contacted after the closing date to confirm if a payment has been awarded. If your application is not successful we will continue to work hard to make sure other support is available to you, such as free printing, access to software etc.

How will I be paid?

If your application is successful you will be paid by BACS straight into your nominated bank account. You can expect to receive payment within two weeks of being told your application has been successful.  

How much will I be awarded?

We aim to support as many students as possible. Following the application deadline the panel will assess each application. As the fund has limited resources we may not be able to meet all the costs you might apply for. If you are awarded a payment we will email you on your student email account with details of how much you have been awarded.

Do I have to repay any payment I receive from the Summer Support Fund?

No, you will not be asked to repay any payment you receive from the Summer Support Fund. We might contact you to see how the Summer Support Fund supported you with your studies.
