About Wellbeing Peer Mentors

All of our wellbeing peer mentors are students at Staffordshire University and are able to offer support on a one-to-one basis, or to a small group of students to promote mental wellbeing.

Wellbeing peer mentors can help you in the following ways:

  • Being someone friendly to talk to and listening to your concerns in a non-judgemental way, most of them are trained in Mental Health First Aid and all have the confidence and knowledge to support you.
  • Offer information from their own student experience on what can do to enhance your student experience.
  • Assist you to identify societies, groups or other activities related to your interests and hobbies.
  • Attend a new group, or help with an introduction to a society.
  • Signpost to specialist services within the university such as the wellbeing team within Student Support and Wellbeing Services.

The support offered by the wellbeing peer mentors is specifically tailored to support mental health. For more general mentor support please visit the Staffs Peer Mentoring webpage.

Wellbeing Peer Mentor Profiles

Leanne Gallimore

Leanne Gallimore

Interests: Making lots of memories with my children, travelling to new places, socialising, playing board games, making designs on clothing and other accessories and living life to the full. I also love a winter night in watching a film.

Favourite food: My favourite food is jacket potato with cheese and beans but my favourite food out is tepenyaki noodles with squid and steak. I have to mention crimble crumble too (apple crumble or any fruit crumble to be honest)

Favourite animal: has to be my own little doggy called Wookie as he actually looks like a small Wookie from Star Wars.

Alisha Hattersley

Hiya, I'm Alisha. I am currently a Level 5 psychology student and qualified mental health first aider. I have a passion for helping and wanting to listen to people in the community when they're experiencing ill mental health or difficult life events.

I enjoy gaming and watching Disney and Pixar movies, one of my favorites is Inside Out because of the important message behind it. Embracing the wholeness of ourselves.

Interests: I enjoy gaming and musicals. I love being cosy at home, so Christmas is my favourite time of year with all the decorating, cooking and baking to be done.

Favourite food: I love chicken fajitas, but my favourite takeaway is Chinese food

Favourite animal: I have to be bias and say my own dog called Blade, he`s a staffy but more likely to lick you to death than anything else.

Bridget Loasby

Interests: Reading way too many books, watching old horror movies, fixing up cars and motorbikes, playing new and old video games, sewing, spending my time volunteering, looking after my pets and spending time with my grandparents. I am also a massive coffee lover, I take it with my oxygen!

Favourite food: I don't really have a favourite food but in the morning, my favourite thing to have is a brew and a biscuit as soon as I wake up!

Favourite animal: I am a massive cat and rabbit lover! I have five cats of my own called Doom Kitty, Eevee, Apricot, Lorelai and Shelly. I also have two rabbits called Flopsy and Clara.

Hi! I’m Amelia one of the peer well-being mentors. I am studying psychology and criminology along side playing on the uni football team. Psychology is a passion of mine as I find it so interesting how it can influence behaviour, especially in sport! I look forward to helping my fellow peers and offering support.
