If you’re into Graphic Design, I don’t think there’s a better course you can do. It’s really highly rated and that’s definitely for a reason.

Lucas Ulitschnik, 21, from Alsager, studied BA (Hons) Graphic Design after being impressed by the facilities and lecturers at an Open Day.

He explained: ”The Graphic Design course very much appealed to me and just the way the studio was set up and all the facilities.

“If you’re into Graphic Design, I don’t think there’s a better course you can do. It’s really highly rated and that’s definitely for a reason.”

The course is taught by a team of specialist and award-winning lecturers who have strong links with industry. Students benefit from a range of visiting lecturers, have the opportunity to enter high profile competitions and are encouraged to gain placements with national design agencies.

Lucas was also given the freedom to pursue his passion for Formula One in his final year project and secured a job with Alpine F1 before even graduating.

He said: “Being able to have that freedom to do what we want I think enabled me because then I had a tailored portfolio.

“I’ve managed to get a job as a junior graphic designer, which would involve everything from the liveries on the cars to the toilet sign in the factory! A dream job for me being able to combine one of my biggest passions with another passion that is graphic design. My course really enabled me to do that.”

In his final year, Lucas also did an internship with top UK ad agency VCCP through his course and has worked with big name clients including Nationwide and Domino’s which has helped prepare him for going into the industry.

“It’s hugely important, being able to do the internship and get that taste of what it’s like in an agency. For me, it has built my confidence quite highly to go and do my job next month…I know what to expect almost.”

He added: “I feel very lucky and fortunate to have lined up a job, I couldn’t be happier. It’s a very uncertain time. To line up that job gives you a sense of confidence, not only in your future, but in your abilities.”
