Following a vote by staff, Alice Charity will be the University’s official corporate charity for 2022, with funds raised throughout the year distributed equally between the North Staffordshire charity and The Horizon Fund.

Mother-daughter duo, Steph Talbot and Emily Petts, founded Alice Charity in 2011 in response to the lack of available support for disadvantaged, local families. Today, Alice Charity continues to provide vulnerable families with emotional and practical support, for as long as it is needed, and in 2021 alone helped more than 3,500 families across the region.

The charity also works to encourage and empower local people to volunteer and embrace other opportunities in employment and education. By providing this support, Alice Charity is increasing aspirations and skills that will positively influence and impact families and their community.

Steph Talbot, Chief Executive Officer at Alice Charity said: “We are delighted to have been chosen by the staff at Staffordshire University as their Charity of the Year, and are so excited to start planning how our partnership can expand awareness and support for Alice charity.

The fundraising partnership builds upon existing work between Alice Charity and Staffordshire University, including several student work placements and collaboration as part of larger regional projects such as the Get Talking Hardship project. The partnership also draws on their shared values of improving lives by raising aspirations of local people.
