Job Title and Responsibilities
Talent Identification Manager for The Football Association. Our department is involved in the identification of English players that have the ability to play for the national team, from the England Seniors to U15’s in the men’s and women’s football.
We also support with the development of an educational pathway of Talent Identification courses to develop knowledge of coaches and scouts within the professional game.
I have worked for The FA for over 13 years in a variety of roles from National Manager for Grassroots Football to leading education and coaching programmes. Coaching has always been at the heart of what I do since completing my FA Level 2 whilst an undergrad at Staffs Uni. I’ve coached in grassroots and professional for 20 years and recently spent 6 years coaching in the Foundation Phase at Fulham FC.
MA in Education and Creativity (Distinction) – University of Chester
BA in Sport and Leisure Management (2:1) – University of Staffordshire
I’ve worked for a long time within the practical application of player, coach and talent development so believe I have some knowledge within those areas. One of the important things (I believe) is that this practical delivery of coaching has to be underpinned by academic evidence, not just doing what you think is right or what was done to you as a player!
