Sustain Staffs

Our objective is to build a more sustainable University and reduce the University's environmental impact. On a practical level this means that we give advice and guidance to enable all to make the most effective use of natural resources.
Our activities have significant implications for the environment. From the gas we use for heating, the electricity consumed by lighting, the way we travel to the University and the waste that we generate – all these activities have an impact on the environment.
We have set ourselves a programme of environmental improvement and we will be taking action to:
- Implement an environmental management system to manage our impacts
- Please see our new Carbon Management Programme (PDF, file size: 5.91MB)
- Reduce the amount of waste disposed to landfill by increasing the amount we reuse and recycle
- Manage our water use
- Promote more sensible forms of travel
