Win for Uni in Grads in Games Awards 2020

Staffordshire University has been announced overall winner in the Higher Education Institution category at the Grads in Games Awards 2020.

The category received over 60 individual nominations and Staffordshire University made it through to a shortlist of five finalists who have demonstrated positive impact with their students.

Announcing the winner, Staffordshire University was recognised for its “long history of developing fantastic graduates who enter the games industry” together with impressive employability statistics and industry links.

“Additionally they recently hosted the UKIE conference allowing students to meet and network with many industry professionals as well as hosting their own Gradex event; held at the end of the academic year where final year students can display their work and have Industry recruiters talk, give feedback and hire students soon to graduate.”

Welcoming the news, Associate Professor of Games Education Dr Bobbie Fletcher said: “We are absolutely thrilled to have won this award and we are very grateful to Grads in Games and the panel of judges. Our achievements are due to our dedicated staff, brilliant students and successful alumni."

Senior lecturer Greg Penninck added: “Our students relished the opportunity to take part in the excellent events hosted by Grads in Games. It was fantastic to see so many students produce amazing competition and portfolio entries throughout the year.”
