General support information

Academic Support

If you feel you need academic support, this is available to you on the Academic Skills page.

Several lengths of appointment are available.

  • Standard appointments are 30 minutes
  • If it is your first appointment, or you feel you need more time, you may book an Extended appointment which will provide an hour's personal tuition
  • Quick discussions of 15 minutes are also available

All appointments are currently online due to currently measures in place to combat Covid-19.

Student Inclusion Team 

Staffordshire University is committed to enabling all students to achieve their full potential. For this to happen we recognise that students may, from time to time, require support. Student Inclusion Team can provide individually tailored support.

If you have caring responsibilities or care for a child with disabilities, you may also be eligible for additional support so please do get in touch. If you are an applicant please email the Student Inclusion Team 

Appointments will generally be via Microsoft Teams or by telephone, unless you are asked to come onto campus.

Careers and Personal Development

We appreciate that you may need to work alongside your studies. The Careers and Personal Development team  can do everything to help you not just onto the careers ladder, but up it too. Everything from CV building, interview training and assessment tools, to work shadowing opportunities and the chance to get work experience and temporary jobs from our recruitment and employment agency, Unitemps.

International Students

For international student parents, the Student Support and Experience (International) team aim to provide you with support, guidance and help right from the day you arrive in the UK to the day you graduate.

Library

 

Staffordshire University has a wide range of resources available to you as a student. More information about the resources can be found on the Library Services webpage.

There are subject specific librarians that can provide you with support in identifying appropriate resources for your area of study – for more information visit Subject Librarians.

Nursery facilities

The University have an on campus childcare facility that caters for children from birth to five years.

There are a range of sessions available to meet with your study and work needs and the nursery are happy to give you plenty of time to talk through your options so that you can make an informed decision on the care of your child.

However the nursery can be in demand and operates a waiting list system, so we would advise you to organise a visit and request a place as soon as possible.

Student Finance

As a student with children or dependent adults you may qualify for extra financial support from Student Finance e.g. none repayable grants.

Students' Union Student Advice Centre

The Student Advice Centre provides free, factual, confidential, independent and impartial advice.

Their aim is to empower students to create their own best experience.

You can contact the Student Advice Centre by popping into the reception, by phone or by email to confirm Adviser availability.

There are also drop-in Advice Point sessions which take place between 10am and 3pm, Mon - Fri (please note these are not pre-bookable appointments).
