At Staffordshire University we are renowned for achieving high levels of excellence in applied research.
Through our Applied Research Centres (ARCs), smaller research institutes and centres, and For Business – our specialist business training and support service – we develop highly viable and practical solutions to real-world problems.
We promote knowledge transfer. We support postgraduate research. We engage with industry, commerce, the healthcare professions and our communities.
We assist both public and private sector bodies to develop new processes and opportunities. We inspire businesses to flourish and we strive to improve the quality of life of people of all ages.
We are also committed to multidisciplinary working. Our activities in the field of healthcare, for example, span our ARCs and range from the development of the next generation of footwear for diabetics to influencing the national strategy for dementia.
Locally, regionally, nationally and globally our activities are making a real difference. While as the European lead for a €7.3 million renewable bioenergy project, we are currently establishing ourselves as a centre of excellence for carbon-neutral biomass fuels.
In the most recent Research Assessment Exercise, a considerable amount of our work was judged to be of ‘International’ standard.
Such impressive results confirm the success of our research strategy and our ability to exploit the strengths, links and synergy that exist between our research teams.
