Use our ResLife Portal to register in order to apply for accommodation. You'll need your Student ID number. This is an 8-digit number usually found on most correspondence from the University. It only has numbers in it, no letters.
Once you've registered, use the Portal to apply for accommodation here at the University.

Can I apply yet?
There's a few things you'll need to make sure you've done before you apply for Accommodation here at Staffordshire University. Make sure you can check all these off before you apply:
You've formally accepted your course offer through either UCAS or the University.
You've waited at least 48 hours after this time. (it takes some time for your data to be pushed through to our systems)
You have your Student Reference Number. This is an 8 digit number, normally in the form 18001234
If you can check off all of these, you're ready to register with us and apply.
Registering on our ResLife Portal
Visit our online portal at reslifeportal.staffs.ac.uk
You first need to register with us to be able to apply for accommodation. Go on the ‘Register?’ link below the red Login button. Your Student ID is an 8-digit number usually found on most correspondence from the University. It only has numbers in it, no letters- You must enter your details exactly as they appear on your University application for them to match up with the details we have in our system. Follow the steps though this process to verify your details.
After you have done this step, you’ll be asked to enter a validation code. You will have been sent an email within 24 hours which says your Validation Code on it. Put this in the box exactly as it appears in your email. Make sure you check your junk folder in your email. If it's not there after 24 hours, contact us and we'll help you out.
You’ve now registered with our online ResLife Portal. This doesn’t mean you’ve applied though; it just means you have an account with us. You can log into the Portal at any time using the password you’ve set up.
Applying for Accommodation
It’s a good idea to decide what you want to apply for before you begin your application.
When you’re ready to apply, visit our ResLife Portal again and log in. This will bring you to your Dashboard, from here, select ‘New Application’ on the top navigation bar.
Select which academic year you wish to apply for and pick your application type. Normally this will be ‘Student’
Choose the pathway which best applies to what kind of student you are. This is so we can offer you the right accommodation. Make sure you select the correct pathway, otherwise your application may be rejected and you’ll have to apply again.
You can then decide which accommodation you wish to apply for as your first preference. When you’re ready, select apply next to the Accommodation you wish to apply for.
Check that it’s definitely the right accommodation, and scroll down to the bottom of the page. You can then click on apply to add it to your preferences.
Sometimes you'll need to add another preference in the same way you added your first. We normally ask you to rank your preferences, just in case we can’t offer you your first preference. We allocate on a first come, first served basis so it’s a good idea to apply as soon as possible.
When you’re happy with your preferences, you can press the ‘next’ button
Complete any further details, including any medical conditions you may have. You can also select if you’d prefer mixed or same gender sharing. We can’t guarantee being able to offer mixed accommodation due to numbers. But we’ll try our best for you.
Fill in any notes that you want us to see for your application. These notes should include anything you think may be relevant to your accommodation. This could be further information on medical conditions or special requests.
Review your application to make sure that everything is correct to the best of your knowledge. Make sure that your preferences are correct and make a note of the start and end date as these are your move-in and move-out dates.
You can now scroll to the bottom of the page, and press ‘submit’ to send your application to us.
All done. Your application will then be listed as ‘Awaiting Allocation’. Don’t panic, this is normal and is just waiting for us to assign you to a room.
Just sit tight and wait for us to email you with an offer. Once we send you that email, you’ll have 72 hours (before 1st August) or 48 hours (after 1st August) to accept the offer and pay the £250 prepayment. This isn’t a deposit, it’s a prepayment so it’s deducted from your total rent bill.

Paying for Accommodation
There are 2 different ways of paying for your accommodation:
The full licence fee will be split up into 3 parts and taken out every semester. These payment dates are usually around the time student finance comes in so you don't have to worry about saving up.
When you're accepting your offer, you will be required to pay a £250 prepayment of rent. This prepayment in non-refundable. This £250 is deducted from the total amount of rent for the licence period so you won't be paying any extra.
Pay in Full
If you have the funds available you are welcome to pay the total accommodation fees upfront which means you wont have to worry about them later in the year.
Accommodation fees can be paid by students, parents or any third parties. Initial payment is made online through our Secure Trading portal by either debit or credit card. Any further payments will automatically come off the same card used when making your initial payment. Card details can be changed at any point in time online through the finance department. If you are paying the initial payment from a Parent or Guardian's card, remember to change your card details after the payment goes through or before the first instalment of rent comes out.
Make sure that when you move in, you bring some ID with you. We prefer your Student Card, but any photo ID should be okay. Please ensure that the you read the Licence agreement fully before signing for your keys. Licence Agreements terms will considered to be accepted by the Licensee on acceptance of room keys and moving into the allocated accommodation or property.
