Biomechanics Facility

Purpose built facility which enables collection of data using specialised equipment to understand and diagnose Musclo-skeletal conditions within individuals or groups.

The Biomechanics facility includes a fully equipped gait analysis laboratory with ample space and a consultation room for clinical use. This unique facility helps deliver our world leading research on clinical Biomechanics and rehabilitation technologies.  Using state of the art equipment, we can record and monitor all aspects of human performance ranging from children to the elderly. In addition, we have a full suite of systems to measure mechanical properties of a range of materials. The capabilities of this facility is evidenced through numerous research publications (over 500 research outputs in the last 10 years) which covers all areas of Biomechanics from diagnosis to treatment and rehabilitation.  This area is also used for delivering core undergraduate and postgraduate teaching activities. Our students make full use of this facility to collect data for many research projects and also for their continuing professional development (CPD). (http://blogs.staffs.ac.uk/staffsbiomech/)
