Rachel Meredith

Lecturer

Health, Education, Policing and Sciences

Studied Midwifery Practice degree at Staffordshire University between 2003-2006.  Qualified and commenced my first role at Mid Cheshire Hospital Trust as a rotational midwife working between labour ward and postnatal ward.

Over the next 16 years I continued to gain lots of midwifery experience but I also I got married and had two children.

My career changed once I had my children and I wished to care for women and families as part of a permanent 'core' team on the postnatal ward.

I then became Deputy Ward Manager of that ward and loved leading a team in every sense of the word.

My final role in the NHS was 'Workforce Development Lead' I had the responsibility to facilitate, plan, and evaluate staff training for the Women and children's division. I also had the enjoyable task of looking after all midwifery students coming to gain experience at Mid Cheshire, this was part of my role that I found most rewarding and satisfying.

In August 2022 I moved from the NHS into Staffordshire University as I became a Midwifery Lecturer.
