Digital, Tech, Innovation & Business

I work alongside colleagues within the Institute of Education and the wider University to support the development and delivery of inclusive learning and teaching, which is underpinned by our University’s academic strategy. I provide strategic leadership in curriculum design, learning, teaching and pedagogy, helping to grow our regional, national and global reputation for academic practice. I am also passionate about improving student experience for HEI students throughout their educational journey and strive to provide inclusive personalised learning which enables all to achieve their full potential. I continue to share my experience and passion for student education and learning in my role as school Governor at a local primary school raising aspirations of our local school children.

I started my professional career in a healthcare setting in 1986 qualifying as a registered Nurse in 1989. My academic journey commenced in 1998, gaining a BN (Hons) in Critical Care in 2000 and MSc Advanced Practice in 2006. Alongside this I have developed my knowledge and skills in nursing, nonmedical prescribing and advanced health assessment  which allowed me to increase my scope of clinical practice and to also share that knowledge with others as I moved into the education arena at Staffordshire University. I commenced my academic career as a senior lecturer in 2008 and completed my PgCHPE in 2011.

After moving to a management role as Head of Department for Nursing I continued to develop my academic and research knowledge and skills commencing a professional doctorate in 2013.   I successfully defended my thesis in December 2020.   In 2021 I completed a portfolio assessment for HEA Senior Fellowship. I am currently working in the Institute of Education focusing on improving student outcomes, developing practice learning, quality enhancement of the education portfolio and improving the student experience.
