One of the best reasons to study engineering is the strong emphasis towards hands-on learning and practical skills. What stands out for me is the high level of support given by lecturers. They're approachable and go above and beyond to help and offer knowledge. Zac is working as a Build Component Logistics Coordinator (and occasionally Race Team Spares Coordinator) at Formula 1 Mercedes AMG Petronas. He studied BEng (Hons) Automotive and Motorsport Engineering, here he discusses how the course prepared him for industry.

"The course really laid the foundation for my future career in motorsport, especially being able to take what I learnt in lectures and workshops and then implement this into the Formula Student project. There were plenty of practical experiences on the course that continue to make a difference in my work. Some examples are using CAD and interpreting engineering drawings, data analysis, and how to work in a garage environment safely and use tools.

Staffordshire put me in contact with the first professional motorsport team I worked with in Slidesports. This was a team where races and championships were won and gave me a great insight to the demands of working in motorsport both at base and trackside."
