What is TEL?

Technology Enhanced Learning (TEL) is the use of technology (e.g. Blackboard, computers, smart phones, interactive whiteboards etc) as part of students' learning experience.

Why use TEL?

TEL can enhance accessibility, enable a variety of learning approaches, offer increased flexibility, support collaboration and communication and encourages the development of skills for a digital age. It can be used alongside face-to-face, as blended learning or for distance learning.

What do we do?

We support the use of technology in teaching and learning as per the University’s Strategy. In order to achieve this we strive to support all staff and provide guidance on best practice. Useful information:

  • Guide to the current minimum requirements for Blackboard and course design guidance: Course Design

  • Blackboard Help documents and tutorial videos are available from the Help tab in Blackboard

  • TEL Explorer has a series of short guides to other tools and technologies

  • Events and workshops are listed on Digital U in IRIS
