CPR & Defibrillator Awareness

Overview

Did you know that if someone suffers a cardiac arrest outside a hospital and receives CPR from someone at the scene, they are two to three times more likely to survive? If someone collapsed in front of you, would you know what to do?

 

Course overview 

This 3 hour course will provide you with skills that may aid you in saving a life by doing the following:

  • Identify if someone is in cardiac arrest
  • Knowing what help to call and when
  • Deliver high-quality cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR)
  • Understand the role of Automated External Defibrillators (AED) and how they are used

 

Facilities

Onsite experience in teaching rooms or skills labs with high-tech mannequins and training equipment to help enhance the learner’s confidence in how to tackle this event in the real world.

 

Award

On completion of this course, learners will receive a certificate of learning from a certified Advanced Life Support Instructor.

 

Funding

The Stoke-on-Trent Higher Skills Accelerator is fully funded by the UK Shared Prosperity Fund in partnership with Stoke-on-Trent Council and offered free of charge to each participating organisation.

Entry requirements

This masterclass is open to anyone who is 18 years old and over and meets the following criteria:

  • Employed for one hour or more of paid work per week (including those temporarily away from work because they are sick or on holiday).
  • Temporary and permanent employees who are on fixed-term contracts or agency temping.
  • Self-employed people.
  • People on government-supported training programmes, engaging in any form of work, work experience, or work-related training.
  • People on maternity or paternity leave.

This course is free to all learners who meet the criteria above.
