Outstanding facilities

The specialist cross-discipline facilities and flexible study spaces have been designed to build a bridge between classroom practice and real-world application. Take our £11m Cadman Studios, or 12 new simulation suites, where you can experience work-related scenarios in a custody suite, prison cell, courtroom, crime scene, hospital ward, office, shop or bedsit. Many of these facilities are open to students on different courses. Fashion students can 3D print a bag and sports therapists can virtually explore the human body.

Specialist Computer Room

A large capacity computer room containing high-spec PCs with dual monitors and Wacom Intuos Pro tablets, as well as a range of specialist software.

Maker Space

An area for light making work that includes woodwork and metalwork benching with vices and downdraught tables and air benches for light sanding, a variety of hand tools, soldering equipment and magnified lighting for detailed work.

Study spaces

Our exciting approach to learning combines the pioneering use of digital technologies with flexible study and collaborative spaces. The Catalyst features bookable rooms with full presenting equipment, webinar pods, large tables for group projects, computers and an entire floor dedicated for silent study. Our friendly and professional support staff, including specialist technicians, librarians and academic skills team are on hand to help with any queries. You can use the libraries and computers at any time of day or night.

Eat & drink

With two shops and a choice of bars, cafés and restaurants, you can indulge in anything from artisan sandwiches and Mexican burritos to craft coffee to healthy smoothies. True to our inclusive and considerate spirit, we offer discounts on a range of our selected food and drink.

Catalyst Kitchen

Serving artisan sandwiches, salads, smoothies and shakes, as well as our craft coffee and traditional favourites.

Squeezebox

Healthy smoothies, hearty oatcakes and the best coffee around can be found in Squeezebox on College Road campus. 

Pavilion Burrito and Wrap Bar

Pavilion Burrito and Wrap bar is a Mexican style restaurant that offers a Breakfast and Lunch menus throughout the week.

Cafe Cadman

A contemporary “lounge style” café located in the entrance to the library serving Costa coffee; with a range of fantastic impulse cakes and home baked snacks.

Catalyst Bistro

The Bistro offers a dining experience with an option to book tables or the space for breakfast, lunch and afternoon tea.

Coffee Lab

Coffee Lab offers a full Costa Coffee range of hot and cold drinks as well as sandwiches, toasties, pies, and paninis.

Ember Lounge

Café and bar at the heart of the College Road site, serving up the ultimate burger, karaoke and quizzes.

Catalyst Coffee Shop

Serving fresh craft coffee, hot and cold sandwiches and paninis plus cold beverages and retail items, conveniently located near to the Catalyst Library.

Sport

Located on our Leek Road Campus, the Sir Stanley Matthews Sports Centre has got all level of sports enthusiasts covered. Facilities include a large indoor sports hall with courts and climbing wall, state-of-the-art gym, and outdoor pitches of both grass and astroturf.
