Specialist Technical Facilities

The University has a wide range of specialist technical facilities which are supported by a large team of technical staff. These spaces extend to workshops, studios, science labs, simulation/immersive suites, clinical skills and a fully equipped resource centre. The facilities are grouped into five subject-based technical hubs.

Health and Clinical Skills

Biomechanics Facility

Purpose built facility which enables collection of data using specialised equipment to understand and diagnose Musclo-skeletal conditions within individuals or groups.

Body Composition Lab

The Body Composition Lab enables accurate assessment of body composition analysis in support of the Sport & Exercise awards programme.

Clinical Simulation Suites (Stafford Site)

The Clinical Simulation Suites are a purpose built simulation facility used to deliver simulation based activities through the use of a wide range of simulation technologies.

A Click & Collect service supplying Art & Design materials for students

Ceramics Workshops

The Ceramic Process areas are situated in the Dwight Building and consist of seven practical workshops supporting all aspects of ceramic-ware production.

Composite Materials Workshop

A workspace with the equipment necessary to shape, mould and form with a wide range of materials including plastics, fibre glass, carbon fibre and resins.

Media and Communications Hub

Cadman Music Studios

Professional music recording facilities consisting of control rooms and live rooms.

Science Hub

Analytical Methods Laboratory

Our Analytical Methods Laboratory has a range of instrumentation for chemical analysis including chromatography, electrochemistry and molecular and atomic spectroscopy.

Automated Fingerprint Identification System (AFIS) Room

A dedicated room for fingerprint identification, comparison, and optical enhancement.

Cell Culture Facility

A specialist environment for the culture and study of both cancerous and non-cancerous human and mammalian cell lines.

Smart Technology Hub

3D Factory - 3D Print Room

The 3D Print Room is one of two facilities available from within the 3D Factory, enabling students to print objects of varying size, complexity and material.

3D Factory - Laser cutting

The laser cutting room is one of two facilities available from within the 3D Factory, facilitating creative engravings across a range of materials.

Advanced Materials Lab

The Advanced Materials Lab is part of a suit of facilities that businesses, students and graduates can access through the Innovation Enterprise Zone.
