Psychology Simulation Facilities Home About Facilities Technical Psychology Simulation Facilities Simulation equipment is available throughout the psychology laboratory areas and available as stand-alone resources for facilitating research and teaching applications. Simulation allows for convenient creation of environments and conditions that would otherwise not be possible to create in real life. Through the integration of a combination of equipment and software we can run scenarios and applications which align with experimental hypothesis and learning outcomes. Our provision of Samsung Gear VR equipment provides flexible use of virtual reality within teaching and research and can easily be integrated for applications within the laboratory areas. Our HTC VIVE systems provide a comprehensive array of VR applications and can also be deployed with eye tracking functionality. Our driving simulator hosts research standard software (Open DS) enabling the manipulation of driving scenarios for the recording of trial dependent variables, such as reaction times to hazards and steering performance. The driving simulator is used for; hazard perception, distraction, and performance assessment, assessing the impact on cognitive load within a multitask environment, and for the recording and monitoring of physiological changes during driving competition.
