Key dates for 2026 applications

14 January 2026 - Main applications deadline

This is the main date where applications are submitted through UCAS. There's still opportunity to apply to some courses later in the year.

26 February 2026 - UCAS Extra opens

If you've used all five choices and are not holding any offers, you may be able to add another choice in your application.

2 July 2026 - Clearing opens

Applicants can release themselves into Clearing and eligible applicants can apply to courses which still have spaces available.

Applying after January

Some students may be applying after the main January deadline. We're here to guide you through your options.

Apply through UCAS Extra

UCAS Extra lets students apply for an additional university course after you've used all five of your original choices and didn’t receive any offers (or declined the ones you got). If you’re eligible, you can apply to one course at a time through Extra - if a university doesn’t offer you a place, you can choose another course and try again, as many times as you need before the UCAS Extra deadline.

Apply through Clearing

Clearing is a UCAS application process that helps applicants find a university place if don’t have an offer after receiving your exam results, or you've changed your mind about what course you want to study or where, or if you decide to apply late in the year. During the Clearing window, you can browse courses in Clearing and apply courses which have spaces available.

How does Clearing work?

After you've applied

Once you’ve completed your application, UCAS pass it on to your chosen universities. They’ll review and consider you application and may invite you to an interview or portfolio review before deciding whether to make you an offer.

Do you have an interview or portfolio review coming up?

Some courses require applicants to do an interview or share their portfolio with us as part of the application shortlisting. You'll be contacted by the university if this is part of the entry requirements for your course.

We've provided some guidance to help you prepare for this stage of the process.

Transfers

We acknowledge that your education journey may not always follow a linear path. Whether your circumstances have changed or you’re looking for a different course focus, we welcome applications from students currently studying at other Universities.

A transfer application is for students who have completed or are currently completing their first or second year of a degree elsewhere and wish to join us to complete their studies. Depending on how closely your current modules align with our curriculum, you may be able to enter directly into year 2 (level 5) or year 3 (level 6).

If you are looking to transfer to us you must ensure that when we ask for them, you upload your full up to date transcripts and all your module descriptors so that a comparability check can be completed by an academic member of staff. For a direct entry transfer, there must be a significant overlap in core subject content. When you apply via UCAS or directly to university, you will be asked to select a point of entry which is how we will know you are looking for entry to higher level.

FAQs for undergraduate applications

How do I apply?

For full-time undergraduate courses, you can apply through UCAS. For part-time undergraduate courses, you can apply directly to the University of Staffordshire.

When can I apply?

You can apply for a course up to a year before the start date.

What are the entry requirements?

Our entry requirements are listed on each course page, and these are typically what we expect our applicants to have before they enter a course. However, they are one part of an application and if you do not have the required number of UCAS tariff points or the degree classification that is listed, this does not mean you should not apply.

We also make contextual offers, we encourage prospective students to enquire online if you want more information about entry requirements.

How long will it take to receive a decision on my application?

We aim to review all applications within 5 working days providing we have all your supporting documentation or information. Please note that this review may result in an offer, an invite to interview or we may need to send your application to one of our academics for review. During peak periods, such as January and August this may take slightly longer.

What is Beacon?

Beacon is our digital coach that is designed to help students get the most out of their experience. It is a mobile app and your access to Beacon starts when you apply and you will receive log in details when your application is assessed.

Applicant Beacon has a wealth of information for applicants and enables you to track your application via a tool bar. It is important you enable notifications when you download the app so you can respond quickly. You will also be able to access your eVision applicant portal via Beacon so downloading the app is important.

Access Beacon.

I have been invited to complete an interview or portfolio review - what can I expect?

This is a chance for us both to get know each other and learn more about your journey so far and how we can help you realise your potential. Your invitation letter will explain how you will be interviewed – this may be via our video interviewing platform, Shortlister, or via Microsoft Teams or in Person.

Our interviews webpage has more information on what to expect.

You have asked me to upload documents, what do I do?

If you have received an email asking you to upload documents to your application, the instructions will be on that email. You need to log in to Beacon to access your applicant portal. You will then see an active task asking you to upload the files we need.

When you have completed the request and select the ‘Complete’ button, we will receive a notification you have done so – you do not need to email them to us.

What is the difference between a conditional offer and an unconditional offer?

Conditional offers are offers that have requirements attached to them that you need to satisfy before we can confirm your place.  For most applicants this will be a tariff point offer or a degree classification offer. In some cases, we will issue non-academic conditions such as completing Occupational Health checks or DBS checks for our regulated courses.

Unconditional offers mean that you have met the entry requirements – so the place on the course is yours if you want it! You must read your offer letter closely as there may still be actions you need to undertake to get on the course in time.

Do you make unconditional offers even if I haven't got my level 3 qualifications yet?

In almost all cases we do not issue unconditional offers to students who are still studying their qualifications. We will never issue you with a conditional offer that says if you firmly reply to that offer we will make your offer unconditional automatically.

For our creative and practical courses, we value talent as well as academic performance. If your portfolio or audition shows you are ready, we may offer you an unconditional place – no matter what your final grades.

We will never upgrade a conditional offer to unconditional at an applicant’s request or because another university has done so.

What is CampusConnect?

CampusConnect is our student-led community app for offer holders. Once you have received an offer of a place from us, you will receive an invitation to register. The best experience is to download the app to your smartphone.

You will be able to connect with other people from your course, hometown or country, and even those with similar interests. We also run live events where you can get advice about finance, accommodation, student support and more, all in one app, before you’ve even started at University of Staffordshire.

I'm an international student, when will I receive my Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS)?

Once you have met all your offer conditions and paid your deposit, your information is moved into Enroly CAS Shield. It is important you complete all the processes required in Enroly in good time so that we can then undertake a final review of your application before making a decision on sponsorship. Please note that completion of processes in Enroly does not mean that a CAS will automatically follow.

Where can I find all entry application dates and deadlines?

The best way to check dates for important deadlines is on the UCAS website.
