Portfolio reviews

Helping you prepare

If you’re applying to one of our Art and Design, Animation, or Games courses at University of Staffordshire, you may be asked to attend a Portfolio Review Session as part of the application process.

The courses that require a portfolio review, along with specific requirements for that course, are listed on this page.

Your creative portfolio

Your portfolio will be used as a point of discussion for you to promote your skills and interests.  It is an opportunity for you to express your thoughts and feelings around your ideas and tell us about your career aspirations and motivations.

We’ll also be looking for:

  • Demonstration of your interest and enthusiasm for the subject area
  • What attracts you to study at University of Staffordshire?
  • Promotion of your skills and interests
  • Your personality!

It's important to remember that we are looking for your potential, not the finished article.

It's an important opportunity for you to find out more about the course and decide whether it’s the right fit for you and the best place for you to achieve your full potential

If you choose to apply to one of these courses, you’ll receive full pre-portfolio review guidance via email, from our applicant team.

Your questions answered

How do I know if I need to attend a session for my course?

If attendance is needed, this will be stated within the entry requirements section on the course page for your chose course. A full list of courses with portfolio review requirements is also at the top of this page.

How will I know if I’ve been invited?

Once you’ve applied, and your application has been reviewed, you will be contacted by our Admissions Services team (usually by email).  They will let you know what you have been invited to, along with the date, time and location of attendance.

Why have I been invited to one of these sessions?

If you have already been contacted by our admissions team to attend a review session, then congratulations!  This means that your application has been reviewed and you’re a promising applicant that we’d love to meet.  This is a chance for us to get to learn more about you, and for you to ask any questions you may have to ensure the course is a good fit for you.

Who should I contact if I’m going to be late?

Please let our friendly Applicant Services team know by calling 01782 294400 or by starting a live chat on our website.

What will I need to bring?

Each course has their own requirements when it comes to attending a review session.  We recommend clicking on your course, and exploring your course requirements.

Can I bring someone with me?

You’re welcome to bring someone with you, however they may be asked to remain in the waiting area for the duration of your session.
