Cell Culture Facility

A specialist environment for the culture and study of both cancerous and non-cancerous human and mammalian cell lines.

The facility may be used by undergraduates and postgraduates to culture cell lines in vitro in dedicated incubators providing environmental conditions as close to the human or mammalian body as possible. Students may for example investigate the cytotoxity of chemotherapeutic agents and the inhibitory effect of dietary supplements on cancerous cells using proliferation and MTT assays , gene expression using RT- PCR and adipocyte differentiation. The isolation of exosomes  may be further studied utilising facilities and equipment in adjoining areas  (ultracentrifuge and fluorescent microscope )
