Operating Department Practitioner Skills Lab

The Operating Department Practitioner Skills Lab is a facility focused on providing ODP practical skills associated within surgical environments.

The Operating Department Practitioners (ODP) Lab is a fully equipped facility used to teach ODP students all aspects of ODP clinical skills, ranging from operating theatre and anaesthetics to surgery and recovery. The lab provides a safe environment for the instruction of clinical skills and instrument preparation and as such, is fitted with the equipment you would expect to see within a operating theatre setting.

The lab is primarily used for teaching ODP students, however, it is also utilised by other healthcare awards to deliver their programmes. You will find the lab equipped with state-of-the-art simulation equipment for learning, with the majority of equipment mirroring what is used in operating theatres across the country.

Skills such as patient assessment, surgical preparation, airway management, catheterisation, life support and many more are covered in the ODP Lab.
