Staffordshire University is celebrating being named 4th in the Best UK Universities category at the StudentCrowd University Awards.

The StudentCrowd University Awards are the only independent awards based entirely on verified student reviews. Staffordshire University has made the Top 20 in four of the 11 categories in the 2022 Awards including a 9th place for Job Prospects.

Staffordshire University is:

#4 - Best UK Universities 2022

#9 - Best UK Universities for Job Prospects

#14 - Best UK Universities for Course Content

#16 - Best UK Universities for Teaching Quality

Both Staffordshire and neighbouring Keele University – first place in the Best UK Universities category – appear in this year’s overall Top 5, demonstrating that students who choose to study in Staffordshire rate their experience highly. Last year Stoke-on-Trent also rated 6th cheapest UK city for student accommodation.

Dr Annabel Kiernan, Pro Vice Chancellor for Education at Staffordshire University, said: “This is excellent news for Staffordshire University and for our wider county. We aim to provide all our students with a first-class academic experience which is inclusive, supportive and which can help them to achieve career success.

“Although we have made significant investments in our on-campus facilities to provide students with a transformative experience, we are thrilled to have rated highly for job prospects, course content and teaching quality which remain priorities for our University.”

“The fact that this is borne out in what students say about our University means a lot to us and we thank all our students who have taken the time to submit their reviews.”

President of Staffordshire University Students’ Union Hannah Blackburn added: “This is fantastic to see our students recognising all of the hard work that is put in to make Staffs the great place that it is, and that being a Staffs student can improve your employability by delivering excellent course content."

StudentCrowd analysed a total of 15,871 university reviews to select the top 20 across 11 different categories. The winners are selected based on their average review score over the 24-month period from 1st June 2020 to 31st May 2022. The average review scores are across university, course and accommodation review categories.

UCAS has reported that ‘online reviews by students’ are an important resource for prospective students when making a decision on which university to attend.

A spokesperson for StudentCrowd, said: “The StudentCrowd awards are based 100% on authentic student reviews. They demonstrate the value students place on what universities are doing, to create fantastic learning environments in the post-COVID world. Student voice is more important now than ever and engaging in student reviews is a fantastic way to show universities are listening and responding to what their students are saying."
