Hey! I’m a lecturer here at Staffordshire University on our Esports undergraduate course, and I am also lead of our Esports Foundation year.
Originally, my studies focused on video game development and marketing, where I went to showcase a video game I developed for the PS4 at E3 2018 in LA as part of my level 3 diploma in Video Game Development. I have been involved in esports since my early teens, participating in small online tournaments across CS:GO, World of Tanks, PUBG, as well as multiple sim-racing titles. Along with a close friend, I also helped operate a small CS:GO esports team which focused on ESL Play tournaments.
As part of my further studies into esports, and my personal interest in computing history, I became fascinated with the origins of competitive play and how video games became a sporting industry.
I also have a lot of personal interests outside of the esports industry. A huge interest and personal study of mine being cartography and vexillology with me having amassed a collection of national and regional flags and maps. As well as this, I also have a growing retro game collection with a large focus on PC games.
