About this project
STANDUP is the research project #777661 funded by the European Community. It is a 4 years project that started the first of January 2018. The research group is composed of 5 universities all over the world, two European high-tech companies and a hospital. STANDUP aims at reducing diabetic foot ulcers incidence by providing accessible foot temperature analyses to the patients.
STANDUP aims to reduce the incidence of diabetic foot ulcers by using a smartphone connected to a thermal camera. This would allow identification of hyperthermia.
The project involves the development and testing of the system in clinical setting with a view of developing a system to contribute to the early diagnosis of diabetic foot ulceration. The system can also be used to monitor the effectiveness of ulcer healing during treatment. In addition, the effect of insoles on the foot temperature is studies as part of this project.
Prof Naemi is leading the work package related to investigating the effect of specific insole on foot temperature, by coordinating efforts from partners Pontificia Universidad Catolica del Peru (PUCP) and Hospital Nacional Dos de Mayo (HNDM) in Peru, while liaising with Pontificia Universidad Javeriana (PUJ) in Colombia and with Podoactiva in Spain.
