The UniLife experience

Our annual residential is designed to raise aspirations and encourage students to achieve the highest grades and successfully progress to university. Over three action- packed days and two nights, students will get to experience university life for themselves. They’ll explore our state-of-the- art facilities and get hands-on with the equipment in subject workshops; tour the campus and discover some of the courses we have to offer; take part in team building activities and socialise in our Students’ Union. And at the end of the day they’ll get a good night’s sleep in our halls of residence.

Socialise

You will get the chance to relax or party with new friends in our student venues at the University. There will be about 150 (approx.) other students at UniLife, and they can come from anywhere in the UK. This will be a great experience for you if you decide to go to university as higher education students come from all corners of the globe.

Eat and drink

All food is provided. In fact you won't have to pay for anything during your stay. However, if you like to have a little extra, there’ll be plenty of opportunities to buy food and drink during the day. If you have any special dietary requirements, just make sure we know about it before you arrive.

University halls

You’ll be staying in one of our Halls of Residence. This is where most first year students who are not local to the university live during term-time. Males will sleep in rooms on one landing or building and females on another. You’ll also be sharing a landing with some of our Student Ambassadors.

Timetable

Our programme gives you the opportunity to take part in a number of activities to make the most of your time at Staffordshire University.

Day one

Our friendly student ambassadors will welcome you, show you to your accommodation and give you time to settle in. After a ‘get-to-know-you’ lunch, there’ll be fun, team-building activities.

Day two

This is a taster day when you’ll get to find out more about the subject you’ve shown an interest in and the skills you’ll need for career success. Depending on the subject, the day could involve workshops, lectures, group activities and more.

Day three

The final day will tie up all the loose ends that might be worrying you.

What's next?

If your application is successful, we will write to you to confirm your place and will also send some important forms, which must be completed and returned by the date stated in the letter. It is important we have all the forms returned before UniLife starts, as without them we will have to withdraw your place.

Once we have received your forms we will write to you with the travel arrangements. The University will be arranging and paying for everyone's transport. There will be no need for you to be out of pocket to enjoy this experience! We’ll contact you about travel arrangements nearer the time. You'll be met by our Student Ambassadors and probably some other UniLife attendees too.

Remember to read the information carefully and don't forget to read the list of items you will need to bring.
