Part-time fees

Fees for part-time study are pro-rata to that paid for full-time study. This means that regardless of whether you choose part-time or full-time study, you pay the same amount for the course you choose to undertake.  The duration of the course and the fees you are charged each year or semester are determined by the speed at which you wish to progress through the course. This is called the 'intensity of study'. So if you choose to study at half the rate of a full-time  student, you’d pay half the full-time course fees each year, and take twice as long to complete your course compared to full-time. If you choose to study at a different intensity this will alter the duration and fee payment rate. Since 2012, Staffordshire University has provided both graduate and post graduate courses for intelligence professionals of the Royal Air Force, to further develop their knowledge gained within the military intelligence training system and their wider operational experience. The courses deliver highly relevant content challenging our personnel’s critical thinking skills and deepening their knowledge, which can then be applied in their daily work supporting military operations worldwide. In addition, the course provides valuable civilian qualifications that will assist personnel when the time comes to leave the Service and seek civilian employment. The popularity of the courses is a reflection of the quality of the University staff across the Faculties involved.

Online distance learning with short periods of attendance at the University for laboratory workshops.  Please see the course leaflet for further information


Entry requirements

This qualification is open to members of the MOD who have completed Intelligence Training and include phase 3 training.  ICT trained personnel who have completed a level 5 award in a similar area.  Other personnel may be allowed entry dependant on verifying experience and level 5 qualification in either ICT or Intelligence.  It is worth noting that this is a very technical award which will require a high level of IT skills.

Compulsory Course Briefing Day Attendance

Prior to commencing with your application for the programme you are required to attend a compulsory Course Briefing Day (CBD). The purpose of this is to provide an in-depth overview of how the programme is structured, the commitment required to study and how you are able to claim accreditation for previous qualifications or experience gained throughout your career. The Award tutors will guide you through the process of claiming accreditation and how to submit an APEL claim.

We offer two types of CBD: 
Attendance – An opportunity for students to physically attend a CBD event either at the university or selected military stations. 
Online – An opportunity for students to participate in an online CBD which is delivered in real time but via the internet, thus negating the requirement to travel to the university or one of the selected military stations.
