Counselling supervision

Overview

Our course is designed for qualified counsellors wishing to gain professional skills in providing counselling supervision. On our counselling supervision course, we encourage students to develop global citizenship through an awareness of equality, difference, and diversity as well as individual differences through experiential exercises and personal reflection. This continuing professional development course aims to provide students with discipline expertise through instilling a critical knowledge of theory, ethics, and practical supervision skills.

Learning Outcomes

  1. Analyse and evaluate own practice in relation to the use of supervision theory, practical skill and ethics.
  2. Demonstrate competence in using the various modes of supervision and ethical practice
  3. Demonstrate an ability to facilitate a professional supervisory relationship
  4. Evidence and communicate development pf personal growth and professional skills

Assessment

  • 30-minute recording of supervision session conducted by the student. (PASS/FAIL)

A 10-minute power point presentation analysing and evaluating the practical skills and ethical practice demonstrated in the 30-minute recording of a supervision session conducted by the student. (100%)

Entry requirements

  • Minimum level 4 diploma in Counselling
  • Minimum of 1.5 years post qualification experience or completion of 450 practice hours.
  • Membership of a governing body (e.g. BACP, UKCP)
  • Reference from current supervisor
