This course runs over two terms from 09.30-15.30 on the following dates:

Thursdays 16th May, 13th June and 26th September 2019

Attendance is required on the three 6-hour study sessions as well as face to face tutorials with an identified supervisor

Faculty Faculty of Health Sciences

This is a 30 credit module Level 6 module in which you will develop a proposal for change. This module can be taken either as the dissertation module for identified undergraduate awards in Health and Social Care or as a standalone module.

Graduate destinations

You will already work in health and social care or similar environments, or having completed modules move to work within various roles within the health and social care workforce.

Entry requirements

Students are required to provide evidence of their ability to study at levels 6 and/or relevant health and social care experience.

Module outline

This module will equip you with the relevant knowledge, skills and attitudes to confidently and competently negotiate change within an identified area of health or social care. You will be expected to develop a proposal for change rather than carry out the change.

Module overview

This module will facilitate an in depth exploration of issues relating to change and change management, through a process of guided learning. It will include the following core content:

  • Critical Evaluation of change and change management theories in order to be able to  identify appropriate processes for particular change initiatives

  • Critical exploration of frameworks for the development of a change proposal

  • The context and meaning of change - Organisational Culture and its impact on change

  • Critical exploration of leadership and change - critical evaluation of leadership and the  role of change agents

  • Process and drivers for change - evaluation of the importance of measuring and monitoring change

This module can be undertaken either as part of the undergraduate awards indicated in the Faculty of Health Sciences prospectus, as an option module or as an individual module.
