Engineering Laboratories

Packed with state-of-the-art software and hardware resources reflecting current trends in the development of engineering & technology subjects.

Thermofluids and Aeronautical

Understanding the interaction between air and objects, particularly at their surfaces, is key to the design and operation of aircraft. Facilities in this laboratory allow practical measurement which is then augmented by computer-based flow simulation and modelling.

Reverse Engineering Laboratory

Our Laboratory contains 3 Dimensional scanning capability, Additive Manufacturing machines featuring PolyJet, FDM, 3DP processes, as well as Laser Engraving ability.

Mechanical Engineering Resources

Mechanical Engineering resources include industry standard hardware and software. Our labs in Stoke are full of exciting equipment for you to use so that you can prepare yourself for the workplace when you graduate.

Whatever you choose to study at Staffordshire University you will have the opportunity of a work-placement, where you’ll gain experience and connections to give you an edge in your future career.

This work experience may link to your course, or it could be in a broader field. Alongside your studies, it will give you the best possible mix of knowledge and practical understanding.

All our undergraduate and postgraduate courses give you valuable real-world experience to boost your employment prospects. Our MEng courses have a compulsory industrial based project.

We have partnerships with the RAF, the MoD, local industries and overseas colleges and universities. All so we can have over 1,400 off-campus students studying in the workplace, across the UK and around the world.

Work experience opportunities

Every engineering course offers an optional work placement module, which can last up to 12 months. All students get the opportunity to undertake these, which are hugely beneficial in terms of making professional connections to help your future career.
