One Day for Holocaust Memorial Day

Holocaust Memorial Day is One Day that we put aside to come together to remember the Holocaust, Nazi Persecution and the genocides that followed.

  • Date:
  • Time: 11am – 12pm

Holocaust Memorial Day is One Day – 27 January – that we put aside to come together to remember, to learn about the Holocaust, Nazi Persecution and the genocides that followed in Cambodia, Rwanda, Bosnia and Darfur, in the hope that there may be One Day in the future with no genocide. We learn more about the past, we empathise with others today, and we take action for a better future.

At Staffordshire University we continue to support those people facing persecution and genocide historically and today; and provide an opportunity for students, staff and the wider community to come together to reflect on the impact of the Holocaust on individuals and communities. We acknowledge the pain and suffering experienced by those individuals and communities affected by the Holocaust and strive to be an inclusive institution and to proactively tackle discrimination and hate.

This year we have again created a resourceful web page with information regarding the history of Holocaust Memorial Day with videos from our University Chaplain Revd. Mick Williams reflecting on this year’s theme and Professor Caroline Sturdy Colls who will talk about the day that the first transport went to Treblinka extermination.
