12 April 2016 | 11 May 2016 | 9 May 2016 | Taking the totality of the last three complete academic years (Sep 12 July 15) please provide me with the following information. What was the sum of the biggest fine issued to a student at your institution and provide a brief explanation | Estates & Commercial Services The biggest fine issued to a student was for 780 which was for the replacement of a fire door and 3 windows and the smallest fine was for removal of rubbish - 10 which was split between 13 residents in a flat which was 77p each. Faculty of Arts & Creative Technologies The smallest overdue penalty issued during this period is 2. This has been issued on multiple occasions and is our lowest tariff for overdue specialist items. Items are classed as overdue once 15 minutes have elapsed from the time of return selected by students via SiSo, our specialist student facing Online asset management & booking resource. So, for example, a 16GB SD card due for latest return at 16:30 on Friday 28th March 2014 but returned at 16:56 would have been subject to a 2 penalty. The largest overdue penalty issued during the period in question was 130. This was in January 2014 to a student studying one of the film production awards at our Stafford campus. The student in question returned specialist film production equipment in excess of 4,500 in value a day later than scheduled on SiSo having failed to notify the Media Stores of any extenuating circumstances preventing return of assets on time. The student was in possession of seven items of production gear. Each item began to generate a late return fee once 15 minutes elapsed from the scheduled time of return (15:00 on January 27th, 2014). The tariffs increase per hour until the end of the working day, at which point they are capped at the day rate for each item. The penalty was divided into instalments for the students benefit. Four instalments of 32.50 were required between the end of February and beginning of May 2014. Access to equipment was not withdrawn. To place these penalties into context, we operate two professional media stores environments, servicing over 1100 users, and issue penalties in accordance with the value of equipment loaned if returns are late, beyond a fifteen minute grace period, and we dont hear from the loanee, or are presented with extenuating circumstances retrospectively. All equipment is booked Online via a bespoke software-based system so all students set their own collection and return times prior to obtaining any specialist equipment. University Library The smallest fine would be for one late library book that was one day overdue would be 10p. The highest fine is more difficult. We do not differentiate between invoices and fines invoices on the university finance system with Finance so there isnt an automated solution to provide an answer. |
