Studying Sports Therapy

Introducing your course leader - Rebecca Warnett

Hello, I'm Rebecca Warnett, course leader for Sports Therapy.

As Course Lead and Senior Lecturer in Sports Therapy, I bring a wealth of experience in both teaching and industry. Since joining the BSc (Hons) Sports Therapy degree in 2015, I’ve had the pleasure of teaching across all three levels of the course, covering key areas like clinical practice, rehabilitation, and research. My expertise centres around clinical and rehabilitation settings, allowing me to bridge academic knowledge with real-world application.

Before academia, I founded and managed a Sports Therapy Clinic, "Warnett Sports Therapy," where I provided sports massage, injury assessment, and rehabilitation. I also served as Head of Medical for Burton Albion Ladies FC, leading a team of Sports Therapists and students in pitch-side emergency care, injury management, and rehabilitation from youth teams to the first XI.

I look forward to welcoming you in September.

Where could your Sports Therapy degree take you?

Our graduates pursue a variety of rewarding roles, including working as sports therapists and sports massage therapists. Some set up their own businesses or clinics.

You can also work in injury clinics with a range of professionals or alongside athletes in sports such as football, rugby and martial arts.

If you go down the healthcare route, there are lots of job opportunities too. You could be working with specialist communities such as older people, clients who are obese, have diabetes or cancer. Exercise can help improve their quality of life.

You can also progress onto postgraduate study. We offer a range of Masters degrees at University of Staffordshire linked to sport and exercise.

And as a University of Staffordshire student, you'll have access to Career Connect, our dedicated careers team, from the moment you start University.
