Liz Earle MBE

Known for her passion for natural beauty and wellbeing, Liz Earle is a bestselling author, broadcaster and ethical entrepreneur. She has written over thirty-five books on a range of health, beauty and wellbeing topics, including her latest bestsellers The Good Menopause Guide and The Good Gut Guide and hosted a number of hit TV shows for the BBC and ITV. Liz is a regular contributor to This Morning, ITV’s flagship daytime show and recently filmed a ITV mini-series in Greece and Sardinia for This Morning.

A global brand pioneer, Liz co-founded (but is no longer connected to) the multi-award winning Liz Earle Beauty Co., before moving on to launch Liz Earle Wellbeing magazine. She is the Founder and Editor-in-Chief of Liz Earle Wellbeing (published internationally by Hearst), founder of Liz Earle Fair and Fine, an award-winning range Fairtrade gold botanical jewellery and hosts the popular Wellness with Liz Earle weekly podcast.

As one of Britain’s best-known entrepreneurs, her services to business were recognised when she was awarded an MBE by Her Majesty the Queen in 2009.

Liz’s work with The Prince’s Trust, Ace Africa (developing communities), the National Osteoporosis Society and other charities inspired her to found LiveTwice, which provides opportunities for disadvantaged people in the UK and developing countries, notably East Africa.

Throughout her career, Liz has been passionate about what we eat, farming and the environment. She is an ambassador for The Sustainable Food Trust, an advocate for The Soil Association and co-founder of FLAG, the original food labeling pressure group. Several years ago, Liz returned to her roots as a long-term supporter of organic produce, converting a derelict dairy in the West Country into a thriving organic, pasture-fed farm where she now lives with her husband and five children.

The award of Honorary Doctor of the University recognises Liz’s notable and high profile career.  It also reflects her success as a principled businesswoman who is an inspirational role model for graduates of Staffordshire University.  Furthermore, it celebrates her spirit of entrepreneurship and environmental awareness and the ethical employment practices upon which her charity and company are based.

Liz Earle MBE was bestowed the award in 2015
I am delighted to accept this prestigious award not only for myself, but also to highlight the importance of the work of Staffordshire University in helping to grow people who think and act for themselves. Breaking boundaries and opening minds is crucially important to help develop individuals and transform society for the better. Thank you so much for this honour – I feel privileged to be connected to you.
