Freedom of Information

The Freedom of Information Act 2000 promotes greater openness and accountability across the public sector by requiring all ‘public authorities’ to make information available proactively, through a publication scheme.

A publication scheme is a document which describes the information a public authority makes routinely available. The scheme is not a list of the actual publications, because this will change as new material is published or existing material revised. It is, however, a guide to the “classes” or types of information the institution is making a formal commitment to publish.

If you cannot find information you are looking for, please contact foi@staffs.ac.uk

It is important that the Staffordshire University publication scheme meets your needs. If you find the scheme difficult to understand, please let us know. We also welcome suggestions as to how our scheme might be improved.

Requesting information from the University

So far as is possible, Staffordshire University wishes to provide its staff and students, and other members of the public, with any information they need about the University.

Under the terms of the General Data Protection Regulation and the Freedom of Information Act 2000, individuals have rights in regard of obtaining information held by the University. You may make requests for information under the terms of either (or both), and appropriate application forms are attached.

Before completing an application form, please read the notes below to determine the nature of your request.

Request for information relating to yourself

Under the terms of the General Data Protection Regulation you are allowed to ask the University for any information held about you as an individual. For example, you may wish to see your staff or student file, your library borrowing record, etc.
