Adam Newberry

Senior Lecturer

Adam is a Senior Lecturer in Forensic Investigation, specialising in Digital Forensics and Forensic Quality Standards.

His background stems from working in law enforcement, building from being a graduate performing private sector contract work, to being a Digital Forensic Specialist at the Metropolitan Police Service followed by a position in the management team at Staffordshire Police Digital Forensics Unit. He have performed multiple forensic examinations and obtaining data for use in investigations and court, including mobile devices, computers, peripheries, cloud sources and other devices.

Alongside his forensic skills, Adam also trained to be an ISO17025 Quality Assessor, and performed a number of audits on forensic quality standards compliance. His practitioner background is heavily built into his teaching, allowing for his lived experiences to provide informed insights into the world of Digital Forensics.

Adam has been a lead on the Staffordshire Forensic Partnership since 2016, developing and assisting with projects between Staffordshire Police and Staffordshire University, to help both our local community, but also student employability and police research capacity.
