Keith Vallance

Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Paramedic Science

Keith started working for Staffordshire Ambulance Service in 1999, as a Care Assistant within the non-emergency patient transport services at Goodhope Hospital, Sutton Coldfield.

He then trained and qualified as an Ambulance Technician in 2000 responding to emergency 999 calls working at Lichfield ambulance station in Staffordshire.

Keith qualified as a Paramedic in 2008, gaining an Undergraduate Diploma in Paramedic Science from Coventry University. Working as a qualified Paramedic on front line ambulances responding to emergency based at Lichfield Ambulance Station until 2013.

In 2013 he progressed to working at West Midlands Ambulance Service Training Academy working and qualifying as an Education and Training Officer, teaching clinical courses for current staff and new Student Paramedics. This was his first introduction to the formal teaching environment allowing him to advance his teaching experience into future pathways within the Higher Education Sector.

He joined the Paramedic teaching team at University of Staffordshire in 2017 as a Lecturer. Teaching FdSc and BSc in Paramedic Science until a change in direction, joining the team at Birmingham City University as Senior Lecturer in January 2022.

Keith returned to his University of Staffordshire roots in November 2024, undertaking a new role teaching on the undergraduate Paramedic Science Degree program.
