Phillipa Mckelvie

Lecturer

Health, Education, Policing and Sciences

Phillipa joined the Institute of Policing in July 2022 following a 16 year career as a police officer for Gloucestershire Constabulary.

As a police officer she worked in a variety of roles, including response, neighbourhood, Criminal Justice Investigation Unit and custody. Highlights of her career were supporting a successful police response to the 2012 Olympics in Dorset and the G7 in St Ives 2021.

Phillipa is proud to have received 2 commendations and a bravery award during her policing career. In addition to this she also worked on projects in Gloucestershire Constabulary to implement new ASB legislation, DVPN/O legislation and the Victims Code within the Constabulary and also to relevant partners.

Phillipa is now enjoying working with students using her experience to help bring policing theory to life. One of the ways of doing this is by helping to create high standard Simulations for officers bridging the gap from classroom to practical application.

As a student support lead for the Institute she is also in a position to help advise and support students who may need additional support with their studies.
