Sarah Smeilus

Work Based Education Officer

Health, Education, Policing and Sciences

I joined the Institute of Policing in June 2021. Prior to joining Staffordshire University, I worked within secondary education as a Careers Advisor supporting students in Key Stage 3 and 4 and also post 16+ learners. I enjoyed supporting learners to progress into their desired career pathways and building strong links with local employers.

Previous to this, I spent 7 years working with West Mercia Police as a PCSO and Police Officer. I joined the force after completing my degree in Sociology and Criminology at Leeds Metropolitan University graduating with a 1st Class BA Honours. I enjoyed my years with West Mercia Police Force and was able to undertake specialised training including becoming a Specially Trained Officer supporting victims of rape and sexual assault.
